Sun Valley Idaho - a Mountain Bike Mecca
Sun Valley, Idaho is not only known for its luxurious powder and crisp winter snow. In the summertime, the area is a mountain biker’s vacation destination.
Located near Ketchum, Idaho in the Sawtooth National Forest and Recreation Area, it’s an evergreen wonderland of over 730,ooo acres of trails for hikers, backpackers, rock climbers, river rats, and mountain bikers. Due to its latitude as well as the breeding and hunting seasons for some of the local wildlife, many of the trails are only open for a short window between July and October. By then, it starts to get cold and snowy, and the regulars begin looking forward to ski season again.
Advenduro Tours wants to take you on a mid-level mountain bike experience at the beginning of the Sun Valley mountain bike season. We plan on spending three days on the trails, focusing our first day on the Bald Mountain Trail system, and then heading further north on days 2 and 3 to hit up some of the Oregon Gulch Trail system. We’ll see a combination of loop trails and point-to-point trails in both areas, but no matter what the day might hold, the Advenduro RV will be there at the end of it to pick up your bike and hear all about the awesome vistas you saw on your ride that day.
One of the most exciting elements of a ride up one of the Sun Valley Trails is cresting the top of a ridge to look out over some of the ancient glacial formations of the Sawtooth National Forest.
You’ll certainly test your endurance on this trip, but the technical skill level is suitable for confident beginners and intermediate riders. Advanced riders are also welcome on the trip, as there are a few double black diamonds in the area if you want to test your skill set.
